Flavour Profile
Origin
Mughlai Cuisine, India
Sheek Kebabs trace their origins to the Mughal Empire, where minced meat, often lamb or goat, was seasoned with aromatic spices and skewered before being cooked over an open flame or in a tandoor. This method of cooking allowed for tender, flavourful kebabs that became a staple of royal kitchens and eventually spread throughout the Indian subcontinent.
A smoky aroma from the grill, complemented by fresh mint and coriander.
Chef's Tips
- —Serve hot off the grill with a squeeze of fresh lime juice for an added zing.
- —Pair with a fresh mint and coriander chutney or a raita (yogurt dip) to balance the spices.
- —For a complete meal, serve alongside warm naan bread or a light pilau rice and a simple kachumber salad.
